6/19/2017- Kyle Hirst and his Roth Motorsports team started off Father’s Day weekend in Victory Lane Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA winning the David Tarter Memorial.
On Friday night, after qualifying third quick out of a 19 car field, Hirst went on to win Heat #3 and the three-lap “Dash for Cash” event. After drawing the #3 pill, Hirst lined up his Roth/HR Livestock Transportation machine inside of Row #2.
Early on in the 25-lap A-Main event, Hirst made an outside move off of turn 4 claiming the second position. Chasing down the pole sitter Chase Majdic, Hirst set his sights on the lead just as Majdic got caught up with Brian Boswell on lap five. On the restart, Hirst pulled away and quickly caught the tail end of the field. Hooking a rut in turn 3, Hirst lost control and the lead to teammate Giovanni Scelzi. Hirst and Scelzi continued to race nose to tail thru traffic. A “bobble” by Scelzi in turn 3 opened the door for Hirst as he regained the lead off of turn 4. Hirst went on to win his third career David Tarter Memorial with teammate Gio Scelzi right behind him in 2nd, giving Roth Motorsports a 1-2 finish.
On Saturday night, the Roth team headed south to Antioch Speedway to race round six with the (SCCT) Sprint Car Challenge Tour.
Hirst topped the 28 car field with quick time. Finishing second in Heat #4, placed him into the Dash event. Hirst went on to win the event, giving him the pole position for the A-Main.
Hirst lead the first 17 laps, maneuvering his way through lapped traffic. Contact between Hirst and second place Jonathan Allard, moved the Roth 83 machine to second as the Red Flag flew on Lap 18. Suffering from power steering damage, Hirst continued on as he man handled his race car for the remainder of the race, holding on for a second place finish.
The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, 3H Cattle, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance and Astro Titanium for their support in 2017.
